At AKB, we often carry out worktop, sink and tap replacements for our customers across Suffolk and South East Anglia. It is often more cost- and time-efficient to replace all three at once, though it is also possible to refit the existing sink and taps.
When replacing old worktops, customers frequently ask whether they also need to replace their wall tiles. While this can be possible, it is important to note that fitters cannot always guarantee there will be no damage to the existing wall tiles in the process, especially if the new worktop is a different thickness to the old one.
We can offer bespoke granite, quartz, solid acrylic, solid wood, slimline solid laminate or standard laminate worktop replacements.
What type of sink replacement can I have?
Sink replacements are common when customers get a new worktop. The range of sinks available will depend on your desired position and the size of the existing sink unit. We supply a wide variety of stainless steel, granite and ceramic sinks ranging from a single bowl to two large bowls and draining boards. When choosing solid surface worktops, the sinks are mostly undermount.
Can I easily replace my kitchen taps?
It is relatively simple to replace kitchen taps, and we offer access to a diverse choice of styles, colours and finishes. The most suitable taps will vary depending on the customer’s water pressure, though we can offer separate/built-in purifier taps including filters, as well as boiling water taps. Adding a water softener is also an option.
I have a built-in hob — can I still replace my worktop and keep the hob?
Yes! Just because you’re replacing your worktop, it does not mean that you have to waste a perfectly good hob. If it is a gas hob, we would just need to arrange for a gas engineer to disconnect and reconnect the hob after the installation.
Can I replace my existing built-in oven?
Replacing a built-in oven is possible, though there are some checks that need to be carried out to ensure the replacement will work safely, due to the kW rating.
I don’t have much worktop space — can I get a built-in microwave?
If you have a tall oven housing, we can change the configuration for a built-in microwave and add one in. Alternatively, we can adapt a wall unit for a built-in microwave or even make a new wall cabinet to suit your exact project.
